Apply to remain on the roll

You can only apply between 1 April and 28 May 2026
If you're a solicitor without a practising certificate, you need to tell us each year if you want to stay on the roll.
To do this, you must:
- apply between 1 April and 28 May 2026
- pay a £10 fee.
This applies if:
- you were admitted or restored to the roll before April 2025 and do not have a practising certificate
- you didn’t renew your practising certificate in October 2025.
Getting ready to apply
Secure your mySRA account by downloading an authentication app
Before you can apply, when logging into mySRA, you will need a six-digit code from an authentication app alongside entering your password.
What to do:
- Download an authenticator app like Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator from your app store on to your mobile phone or tablet.
- Log in to mySRA and follow the steps to link the app to your account.
- Use the code shown in the app to finish logging in.

Applying to remain on the roll between 1 April and 28 May 2026
Here is how you will apply:
- log in to mySRA
- go to 'Start a new application'
- select 'Apply to remain on the roll'
- complete your application
- submit your application
- pay the £10 administration fee - your application will not be approved until payment is complete.
Working under section 88?
If you work under section 88 of the Solicitors Act 1974 (as a solicitor without a practising certificate), you must apply to remain on the roll. Please make sure your Employment details in your mySRA profile are up to date and show where you work. Update your details now
What happens if you don't apply to remain
You will be removed from the roll after the application window closes.
To return, you would need to:
- complete a screening and background check (£34)
- apply to be restored (£20).
